Fort Friday

We're back with Fort Friday! I know many of you missed it last week!

If you're new - here at All for the Boys we celebrate Fridays with some awesome fort inspiration from around the web. Whether made of sheets, cardboard, wood, or sticks, forts are a place we can go to transport our minds to wherever we want to go. You can play, dream, relax, or create in a fort. Everything is better in a fort!

Don't forget if you participate in Fort Friday (or make a fort any day of the week) and want to share email me at info@allfortheboys.com

Let's start out this week with YOUR inspiration!

Marco from Frauen und Kinder zuerst sent in this photo of this amazing "underground castle with many traps" Imagine all the surprises you could hide in there

Erika's boys each made their own forts (I may need to encourage mine to do this more). Apparently the forts were so good one even fell asleep.

An awesome backyard stick fort from The View Finder by tsdg!

Natalie's boys had fort building on the top of their Spring break to do list. I'd say they checked that one off pretty well!

Here's a quick up and quick down fort from Amazon

A big fort/treehouse at Balboa Park from Bornrich.com

A treehouse trampoline tent would become an oven here in Phoenix but would be super fun in the winter! from Amazon

A pretty cool backyard fort setup from dreadlockgirl

Have a great weekend!

It's that time of the week again! Fort time!

Here are some reader submissions this week - always love these.

Noah has a fun colorful fort to hang out in.

Here is Max's quick cozy fort complete with flashlight. Julia says it allowed her to get ready for work :)

Check out the awesome fort AND fort kits from Love Them Madly

REALLY love this from Time of the Aquarius

An easy "fort" idea from the NY times article I posted about earlier this week. Allison V. Smith for The New York Times

A sleepover fort by lhrnciar on Webshots

You'd feel like you were sleeping in a fort everynight if you had these beds. From Scandinavian Retreat

Have a great week everyone! Don't forget - if you want to submit your own fort, just send an email to info@allfortheboys.com

LESSONS IN THE ART OF PILLOW FORT CONSTRUCTION

Last week a reader, Tim, posted a link to this article written by Matt Ritchel for the New York Times. Lessons in the Art of Pillow Fort Construction. It is a great article if you have time to read through it and love forts as much as we do.

Stuart Isett for The New York Times

My favorite quote "But maybe the experience isn’t about togetherness. Maybe it’s about letting go. Sure, I may have a few months, maybe years, to collaborate. I’ll show them things. I’ll initiate. But then I’ll have to let them have their home inside our home, apart from us."

Fort Friday

Hey everyone! It's once again Fort Friday! I love seeing your submissions so feel free to send any in to info@allfortheboys.com

We got a couple that I just loved this week.

Amanda sent in my favorite kind of fort - a lighted fort - with her two cuties inside.

And Jamie sent in this one of her two boys as well. I love that her son wanted to have 2 entrances for him and his brother so they could meet in the middle. I miss that age!

Here's a fort/tree house from Baumraum

And I thought this literal treehouse - the Kam Tin Tree House - was pretty cool (although probably not if it was my house in there) from Wikipedia

and I really like this big outdoor playground fort! found on Home & Garden Ideas

Have a great weekend!

Fort Friday!

I love Fort Friday and I love that you all do too! Click HERE for more about Fort Friday or more Fort Friday posts.

First I had to share this article that reader Nicola sent me (I shared on our Facebook page yesterday). The article is from Harvard's page and is about the importance of children and free play. About Einstein and forts - definitely check it out. I hope you are inspired :)

Projects with shipping pallets are all the rage right now and I bet these boys didn't even know they were trend setters ;) They made this completely awesome fort for themselves. Thanks Cecelia so much for sharing it with us!

Juliana sent in this cozy fort that breaks down and all fits back into a bin for storage/use later.

Tangi and her son made a room sized fort using pretty much every blanket in the house lol! I bet it's fun navigating inside that fort!

Clara's (from midnightinthekitchen.com) son had a pajama play date (how fun would that be with a breakfast bar for a snack?!) and they of course needed a fort!

I love this fort by Peat Wollaeger on booooooo.com

Here are some DIY Pup Tents from Lindsay and Drew

and here's a great treehouse from finetreehousebuilding.com

Have a great weekend and Happy Easter if you're celebrating!

Fort Friday

Happy Fort Friday! Stacey sent in this cute, simple fort enjoyed by her son AND cat (simple is good!)

Julie sent me this HUGE blanket for made by her college age kids bible study. There were tunnels and everything!

Heather and her son sent in their "usual" fort with a tunnel in the back. I love that kids don't get bored even if you use the same construction over and over. (we often do the same one as well)

When in Doubt, Add More Salt made an extra long fort using binder clips to hold the sheets together!

Emma from Rocking Rascals sent in this early morning fort built by her little rascals ;)

My boy built a makeshift fort while I was working. He said he made this one because it was easy to clean up haha!

Check out this cardboard fort/play structure from Super Colossal

And I'm loving the plans for this cardboard (yes cardboard) play structure at Behance

Have a great weekend!

Fort Friday!

Happy Fort Friday! We are spending this Friday out of town for our last days of spring break. I love bringing you Fort Friday each week so I didn't want to miss it!

This touch of camo fort was sent in by Sarah and her boys. Definitely perfect for movie and a rainy day Sarah! Love it!

This mega fort was sent in by Brooke - I told her they were fort building pros, it goes all the way up to the fan!

Melissa's three boys rocked a Makedo set for this tall fort. They even decorated it with art from school. Way to go boys! You've inspired mine who are currently saving boxes for their Makedo set!

Cheryl over at Talking to Myself led me to her blog where her family and their co-op built a 3 room, 2 tower castle with a drawbridge and moat!

Speaking of Makedo I love this structure on their site, go check it out for more inspiration

We are planning on the beach this weekend and while it will be too cold for the water there may be some sand castle building. found this on Kingsly's Scribbling via google

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Remember you can always send in your fort submissions to info@allfortheboys.com I always love seeing your forts in action!

Fort Friday!

Wohoo Fort Friday once again!
I am SO excited about this new boy photography inspiration magazine - The Fort. The first issue is absolutely gorgeous! Even if you aren't a photographer you will still love and appreciate the eye candy here. After seeing a few of the pictures my boys were ready to get outside and play! Go check it out and download the first (free) issue!
This fort that Structured Play did for her little one is the perfect fort for the little guys - love the door!
and a 16 month old's very first fort complete with snacks! Sent in by Eve. I LOVE that we got to see/share his first fort :)
Stacy shared this awesome "starry" fort on our Facebook page. They popped white lights into little holes in the cardboard. A perfect place to watch a movie.
This colorful fort makes me think of spring! - from Zilver Blauw
I thought this treehouse restaurant in Japan was pretty cool. My boys do too!
I hope you all have a great week! Remember if you'd like to submit a fort or other inspiration (or just say hi) email me at info@allfortheboys.com
