Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day! T' celebrate this special day o' pirate talk I've pulled together a collection o' pirate crafts and activities for your little sprogs.

Every good pirate has a hook (from Kiwi Crate)

and a telescope like this one from The Gold Jellybean

Don't forget the eye patch like this one from Art Platter

A pirate ship like this one from MollyMoo

or a larger version like this one from the Little Big Blog would be good for little pirates.

How about a newspaper sword to complete the ensamble? from Filth Wizardry on Alphamom

Or these from ikatbag

Every pirate needs one of our hats (turned boat, turned life jacket)

Arggh!!

Wooden City

I have posts started/planned but we've been passing around back to school germs over here so getting anything finished is just not happening this week! Good thing there is so much inspiration to be had around the internet!

I love this wooden chalkboard city by dandee. This would make a great DIY holiday gift for the little ones in your lives. I think this would even make a great cityscape for Super Heros or LEGO city!

The full tutorial can be found on Hello Bee

Simple Toys

Made by Joel is one of my favorite (maybe my favorite) dad bloggers. He creates the best toys for his kiddos. His two most recent are definitely worth sharing!

The Cereal Box Coin Roller Toy is great for all ages

And for the slightly older crowd the wooden paper slingshot should keep them busy for a while!

We are always up for some catapulting!

For more inspiration be sure to stop by his site and look around for a while!

BabbaCo Giveaway!

I love the concept of kids getting something fun and interactive in the mail every month. Who doesn't love getting fun mail? I'm an adult and I love it! We were given the chance to check out a company that does just that - sends you an interactive box full of fun each month - BabbaCo by Jessica Kim!

This box has all the elements you could want. Creating, exploring, interacting, even digital downloads and interaction! The box we got to check out was all about sprouting seeds.

My boys thought the seed sorting activity was pretty cool and I'd have to say it most likely would have been their favorite when they were younger too!

It's recommended for ages 3-6 and I'd say that's right on. Mine probably would have been good with it around 2 maybe up to 7 or so but there are certainly activities that ALL the kids can join in on! It's definitely something on my "gift list" as a fun unique gift to give.

How would you like to win your own BabbaBox?! (If you're viewing this in your rss feed click on over to the blog to enter)

a Rafflecopter giveaway

If you can't wait to see if you've won (or if you didn't win) BabbaCo wants to give everyone a special discount for All for the Boys readers. Use the code AFTB20OFF for 20% off your first BabbaBox

Bow & Arrows

DIY BOW & ARROW

I'm sure my son is not the only one hit with the bow & arrow craze lately. I saw this and wanted to make it instantly.

It's a DIY PVC Bow and Arrow from Skip to my Lou

There is a great tutorial over at her site. Go learn how to make one and let me know how you like it! We'll be trying it out as soon as we can run to the hardware store. I'm beginning to think PVC is one of those things I should keep on hand!

Dinosaur Fossil

Ball Blower

Goal Keeper Game

Knight Helmet

If you have or find a site or project you think we'd love feel free to email it to me!

Dragons Meet Paper Airplanes

We all love paper airplanes right? So what happens when a creative Dad combine his love for things that fly (paper airplanes) and dragons? The Dragons of Armita.

Nate is the creative genius behind this pdf book and asked if we'd like to try them out. The verdict? LOVE it! The pdf book (or cd) comes with printable plans for 4 different and totally unique dragons (we've made 3 so far!). Each one has it's own personality and flying style. There are tips on how to best fly each dragon as well as easy instructions on how to fold them. I love that they come with their own stands too!

Both my 9 and 8 year olds love them. I think they'd be great for younger ones too with a little help. The pdf is $2.99 and you then can print as many as you like. I see these as being a great party activity! Or print out a few sets to have on hand for your own secret stash.

I think these are so smart. They are a great way to get your kids thinking about how they could create their own as well! If you have artistic kiddos they could decorate their dragons however they like!

Get your own Dragons of Armita book HERE I'd love to see/hear about what your kids think if you do!

Shadow Puppets

So simple and classic and yet so fun! Shadow puppets can be made with your hands, toys, or paper cut outs. I found some fun shadow puppet inspiration to share with you today. A perfect fort activity I think!

How about this shadow puppet theater from Makedo - they have the how to and a free printable for you on their site!

Minieco also has some great printables!

You can find some educational printables here

I love how A Wednesday Afternoon folded a paper in half to punch eyes and cut out a mouth before having her kids design their own puppets

Some spooky templates from Chez Beeper Bebe

There are even some shadow puppets for purchase
